Synopsis:
Five thousand years of civilization, twenty years of transformation… Never in the course of its long history has China seen such rapid, enduring change in so short a time. And the Yangtze, the Mother River of the Chinese nation, has witnessed the entire scope of that transformation – cultural, environmental and social – inspired by an unprecedented economic revival.
CCTV crew revisited the river area 20 years after the first trip. This documentary epic has a macroscopic view of the river and its people.
The Yangtze, which twists and turns for more than six thousand kilometres across the territory of China, is the third longest river in the world, linking such major population centres as Chongqing, Wuhan, Nanjing and Shanghai, visiting 14 world heritage sites, and passing through the famous Three Gorges.
